Reusable food wraps

Mumatopia sells these really cool reusable food wraps made from fabric and PVC which velcro shut, can be wiped clean, or put in the washing machine, and reused. Say goodbye to cling wrap - hooray!



Now I bought two wraps from mumatopia, and then made one for myself using a pillowcase fabric which I love for the dragonflies! I'm really into pillowcase fabric from op shops because I don't have too much excess fabric left over when making projects, plus I've found so many made from pretty material! I was very lucky to get some PVC (for the inside of the foodwrap) for next to nothing at Spotlight because I got the end of the roll, which would have otherwise been thrown out, and it only cost me 20c.






These food wraps make an excellent gift for Christmas, they can be as colourful as your fabric choice, and although they are made using PVC, at least this eliminates the use of throwaway cling wrap.

Childrens toy bag

Here is a toy bag I recently made for my friend's son's first birthday. All material is thrifted. The farm animal bag fabric is a second hand childrens sheet from Savers, the felt and binding I used for the drawstring I found in op shops.

I used bunnybum's tutorial for the bag. I am very happy with how it turned out, so much so, that I will be making more personalised toy bags for childrens christmas gifts this year. I fill the bags with small toys which make it exciting for the little ones to delve into.

Pillow case chalk mat

A chalk mat I have made from pillow case fabric. This chalk mat is designed as a portable activity for toddlers, to take to restaurants, cafes, parties, on an plane - anywhere to keep a child entertained for a short while!


The main pink fabric was a girls pillow case in a previous life. The duck pocket is made from fabric scraps, and a navy blue pillowcase pocket used for lining underneath the duck. The pocket holds chalk and a small wiper. The black fabric used for the chalk mat is new, it is otherwise known as 'oil cloth'. It may be hard to find in retail shops, but it is available to buy on IJustLoveThatFabric. Velcro attaches the mat together so it can be rolled up and popped in a bag. The chalk mat can be wiped clean and used again, and again, making it an environmentally friendly toy! To create a chalk mat for a boy, change the main fabric. The chalk pocket need not be an animal, it can be made in the same fabric used for the main material.
